Subject to the other paragraphs of this Article, the transfer by juridical act of a right to benefit is governed by Book III Chapter 5 Section 1 (Assignment of rights).

A gratuitous transfer is of no effect unless it is made in writing.

A transfer which is to take effect on the death of the transferor takes effect only in accordance with the applicable law of succession.
