(1)
An insurance agent is authorised to perform all acts on behalf of the insurer that according to current insurance industry practice are within the scope of his employment. Any restriction of the agent's authority shall be clearly notified to the policyholder in a separate document. However, the authority of the insurance agent shall at least cover the actual scope of his employment.
(2)
In any event the authority of the insurance agent shall include the power:
- (a)
to inform and advise the policyholder, and
- (b)
to receive notices from the policyholder.
(3)
Relevant knowledge which the insurance agent has or ought to have in the course of his employment shall be deemed to be the knowledge of the insurer.
