In general, action for insurance benefits shall be prescribed after a period of three years from the time when the insurer makes or is deemed to have made a final decision on the claim in accordance with Article 6:103. In any event, however, action shall be prescribed at the latest after a period of ten years from the occurrence of the insured event, except in the case of life insurance for which the relevant period shall be 30 years.

Action for payment of the surrender value of life insurance shall be prescribed after a period of three years from the time when the policyholder receives the final account from the insurer. In any event, however, action shall be prescribed at the latest after a period of 30 years from the termination of the life insurance contract.
