A contract for the ‘barter’ of goods is a contract under which each party undertakes to transfer the ownership of goods, either immediately on conclusion of the contract or at some future time, in return for the transfer of ownership of other goods.

Each party is considered to be the buyer with respect to the goods to be received and the seller with respect to the goods or assets to be transferred.
