(1)
After the one-year period referred to in Article 2:601 has expired the contract shall be prolonged unless
- (a)
the insurer has given written notice to the contrary at least one month before the expiry of the contract period stating the reasons for its decision; or
- (b)
the policyholder has given written notice to the contrary at the latest by the day the contract period expires or within one month after having received the insurer's premium invoice whichever date is later. In the latter case, the one month period shall only start to run if it has been clearly stated on the invoice in bold print.

For the purposes of para. 1(b) notice shall be deemed to be given as soon as it is dispatched.
